“More” is a psychedelic song about a deep restlessness that accompanies the craving for more excitement, more experiences, more things— and the impact these longings have on our experience of the present moment.
It’s about trying to hold onto things, while the world rapidly and relentlessly changes. It is about life under consumer capitalism.
This song was the result of a writing experiment that LIP TALK calls ‘These Are Photographs,’ in which she writes songs while meditating on a single image. A photograph submitted by friend and former bandmate, Ian Chang was the inspiration behind this one.
This exercise is on-going and people can submit via DM on instagram or email: Liptalkliptalk@gmail.com
lyrics
When I wake up
is it only a matter of time to shake off
dreams
are fading
falling far behind
they donʼt come easy
I try, it always leaves me…
More, I wanted more
I wanted more
I wanted more
I always wanted more
Heavy summer
grass is getting greener
with the rain and thunder,
lightning past your door
into this space, I found here
the waves surround me…
More, we wanted more,
we wanted more,
we wanted more,
we always wanted more
(…behind, they donʼt come easy
I try, it always leaves me)
More, we wanted more,
we wanted more,
we wanted more,
We always wanted MORE

A really creative blend of arrangements, influences, and songcraft. "Wash Up" sounds about as close to a Fleetwood Mac cover as you can get. A fine musical blend and a bit of a throw-back record where every song is a different. Imagine that. midoyle61
The New York duo crush it (and everyone) on their first full-length for Matador Records, an experimental pop opus that sounds truly new. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 9, 2023
These quietly gorgeous songs beautifully blend aqueous electronic sounds with heart-on-sleeve vocals to stirring effect. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 15, 2022
